Pacmed strives to make healthcare a continuous learning network. All patients should receive care adjusted to their personal needs and all caretakers should learn from all decisions made within healthcare. Pacmed aims to achieve this by building and implementing decision support software based on machine learning. Our software supports intensive care doctors in their most important decisions, starting with safely and adequately discharging patients from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). You will join at a point in time where Pacmed has implemented its first software in the ICU and is preparing to scale that software across the Netherlands and Europe., As a Cloud Engineer at Pacmed you will work together with the Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and other developers in your team to make sure that Pacmed's cloud infrastructure optimally supports Pacmed's operations. Data Engineers use Cloud infrastructure to process vast amounts of historical data, Data Scientists use a combination of Python scripts, Jupyter notebooks and dedicated Azure tooling to develop Machine Learning models, and the development team builds Pacmed's Cloud-hosted software product (Pacmed Critical) to be used at the bedside by physicians on a daily basis.

Pacmed also is a trusted partner for the academic world. As such we're the technical partner for a nation-wide initiative that aims to unlock the historical data of all ICU in the Netherlands, to be used by scientists. The goal of this initiative is to improve the quality of ICU care in general. Pacmed also believes in contributing to research and academic partnerships to make data more accessible. The Cloud Engineer will play an important role in designing and building the infrastructure that supports an exciting upcoming collaboration that will bring ICUs across the Netherlands together into a learning network and community.

Our stack currently consists of: Python, SQL, Parquet, PostgreSQL, Redis, REST, Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Spark, Microsoft Azure. We're always eager to add beneficial new technologies to our stack.

What will you do on a daily basis?

* Collaborate with Data Scientists, Engineers, and other developers to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
* Build and maintain the cloud platform that Pacmed's Data Scientists use to develop Machine Learning models, according to best practices.
* Evaluate and improve existing cloud infrastructure.
* Work with the Data Scientists to educate them on how to optimally use cloud solutions and adapt existing software solutions to cloud infra.
* Ensure compliance with company security policies and implementing best practices in cloud security. Identifying and resolving vulnerabilities.
* Optimize data storage and data processing functionality. Optimize the querying of processed data to be used for Machine Learning model development.
* Interact with stakeholders, provide cloud support and create functional requirements specifications from business and user requirements.

* Bachelor's degree minimum, Masters preferred (or equivalent professional experience)
* Background in Computer Science, nice to have
* You have experience with containerization and Docker
* You have experience with CI/CD systems
* You have basic knowledge of Machine Learning
* Experience with Azure is a big plus
* You are a good team player
* You create positive energy and care about the well-being and development of others in the company
