The Data Engineer's work is instrumental to keeping the data science platform resilient to data integrity issues, service disruptions, and vulnerabilities. You will structure data so it flows efficiently and securely through pipelines to serve the data science projects.

What else is part of your role?

* Design, implement, monitor, and maintain scalable big data pipelines
* Optimize data pipelines and workflow to maximize operational performance and efficiency
* Design and develop Azure-based data warehouse and transformation solutions utilising cloud services, such as Data Factory, Service Bus, and Function Apps
* Consolidate data relating to the business from several sources and collaborate with teams to integrate more data sources
* Enable and run data migrations across different databases and different servers
* Maintain and improve our infrastructure to collect, structure, improve and share data with downstream and client-facing applications
* Responsible for the analysis, design and development of Microsoft SQL code (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
* Create high-quality code that is scalable, reliable, and reusable
* Give input on how to improve the scalability and security of our data platform

We try to keep it realistic, but if we must describe our perfect candidate, it would be someone with 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, who understands Mapiq's mission to build great places to work. Next to that you:

* Know how to work with data pipelines
* Have experience with Microsoft SQL, CosmosDB, Python and .NET / C#
* Experienced in working on cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure is a big plus)
* Knowledge of data modeling and data warehousing concepts
* Are experienced in working with version management software (git)
* Familiarity with data governance best practices, such as data quality, security, and the GDPR
* Knowledge of query optimization, tuning, and database design
* Experience with large databases and enterprise development
* Strong troubleshooting skills with regards to database issues

It would be even better if you can include some of the skills below:
* Azure Analysis Services
* Product development background
* Spark
* Experience with streaming data

We are working in an industry that is going sky high, and we wouldn't be able to keep up without the talented people we have at Mapiq. We always strive to hire people that bring their own ideas, background and culture to raise the bars with us.

Conditions and benefits

* A company that cares about your wellbeing.
* A team of talented and driven colleagues
* Fun! We think work is about reaching goals but also about developing yourself as a professional and as a person. At Mapiq we have board game enthusiasts, sport fanatics, presentation guru's and coffee lovers.
* We love our jobs and work hard, but we know how to play hard too; we can come into the office more often but remain very flexible towards remote working. Our bi-weekly bootcamps are back, the quarterly meetings are fun and outside of the office, and of course we have our board game nights
* 25 days of annual paid leave
* A solid pension-plan
* Competitive pay - of course, no one really knows what that means. To us it means that we pay you what seems fair to us, looking at your current experience and skills. We'll discuss salary during the very first talk we have with you to make sure you know what to expect.
