Pacmed strives to make healthcare a continuous learning network. All patients should receive care adjusted to their personal needs and all caretakers should learn from all decisions made within healthcare. Pacmed aims to achieve this by building and implementing decision support software based on machine learning. Our software supports intensive care doctors in their most important decisions, starting with safely and adequately discharging patients from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). You will join at a point in time where Pacmed has implemented its first software in the ICU and is preparing to scale that software across the Netherlands and Europe., As a Software Engineer at Pacmed you will work together with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and other developers in your team to make sure that Pacmed's software products are of the highest quality. At Pacmed we primarily code in Python. Data Engineers develop pipelines to process large amount of data and help with productionizing our models, Data Scientists use a combination of Python scripts, Jupyter notebooks and dedicated Azure tooling to develop Machine Learning models, and the developers build Pacmed's Cloud-hosted software product (Pacmed Critical) to be used at the bedside by physicians on a daily basis. As a Software Engineer you will contribute to all those areas.

Pacmed also is a trusted partner for the academic world. As such we're the technical partner for a nation-wide initiative that aims to unlock the historical data of all ICU in the Netherlands, to be used by scientists. The goal of this initiative is to improve the quality of ICU care in general. The Software Engineer will play an important role in the design and development of the tools used in this collaboration.

Our stack currently consists of: Python, SQL, Parquet, PostgreSQL, Redis, REST, Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Spark, Microsoft Azure. We're always eager to add beneficial new technologies to our stack.

What will you do on a daily basis?

* Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists and developers to design and develop software solutions.
* Contribute to the software that is used to process large amounts of data, or that is part of the software product.
* Evaluate and improve existing codebases.
* Work with the Data Scientists and Data Engineers to educate them on how to optimally write data processing code
* Educate your colleagues on software architecture and design and software design principles.
* Interact with stakeholders, provide support and create functional requirements specifications from business and user requirements
* Ensure quality of the software products by applying quality assurance best practices

* Bachelor's degree minimum, Masters preferred (or equivalent professional experience)
* Background in Computer Science, nice to have
* You have expert knowledge of the Python programming language
* You have expert knowledge on software architecture and software design
* You have experience with building and maintaining large codebases
* You are a good team player
* You create positive energy and care about the well-being and development of others in the company
* You have to be eligible to work in the Netherlands (EU).
