At Samotics, we develop AI-based predictive analytics for industrial machinery. The Monitoring and Data Qualification (MDQ) team is looking for a tech- and data-minded Monitoring & Reliability Analyst, responsible for monitoring & analyzing incoming data; deploying & improving models; and communicating outcomes & advice to our clients.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a passion for data analytics and mechanical/electrical engineering. This person may already have a background in these fields, but other fields of study may also be relevant. Crucially, the candidate should have an analytical mind and a keen interest in deriving insights from data and designing smooth processes to automate analyses.
We have room for two monitoring & reliability analysts at this moment. They may both divide their time 50/50 between monitoring & modeling on the one hand and asset maintenance communications on the other. Alternatively, one of the analysts may be more focused on the monitoring & modeling ("behind the scenes") aspect, and the other may be more involved in working with clients to advise on asset reliability.

We serve customers such as TotalEnergies, Schiphol, Nouryon and ArcelorMittal. Our product, SAM4, leverages machine learning algorithms and IoT sensors to detect upcoming failures in critical industrial assets up to months in advance. But SAM4 does more than just prevent unplanned downtime. It also enables the world's largest and most successful industrial companies to significantly reduce energy waste.

You will be a member of both the Monitoring & Data Qualification (MDQ) and Customer Success Management (CSM) departments and work closely with our data scientists, electrical signature analysis specialists and software developers. With these colleagues, you will work on continuously improving our tooling for asset monitoring-thereby making your work even more enjoyable and efficient. In addition, you'll work with our customer success managers and asset reliability specialists to deliver the highest possible value to our customers.
You start your day with the latest updates from reported client incidents and feedback from clients' maintenance engineers, using Slack channels and email. This information will help you decide which tasks you need to prioritize.
You are responsible for qualifying anomaly reports, which indicate abnormal behavior in the electric motors and industrial assets that we monitor for our customers. Using in-house web tools, you estimate the probability of upcoming failure, which-if unchecked-would lead to loss of functionality, time and money. On a typical day, you spend up to 4 hours analyzing anomaly reports and the underlying data. In addition, you analyze rejected and deployed AI models to ensure the quality of the data in our reports.
As part of the asset reliability team, you translate the insights from our electrical signature analysis into the practical impact on our customers' assets. In your analysis, you try to link anomalies in the data to the various rotating components in the machines' drivetrain, to help our customers identify the root cause and fix the issues before these assets break down.
Last but not least, you will also have room for self development through a wide range of learning programs, to expand and deepen your knowledge. What's more, by working in not one but two teams that are at the core of both our product and our client relationships, you will quickly gain a broad knowledge of our technology and our customers. That makes this an ideal role for a recent graduate with a broad interest in technology, analysis, and working with clients.

For this position, Samotics does not relocate candidates from outside the EU. We will only hire people who are eligible to work as, or are already, a highly skilled migrant in the Netherlands.
About the selection process
We use a combination of interviews and a job test to assess candidates for this position. The job test takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. It's a great way to experience what it will be like to work as a monitoring & reliability analyst. After successfully completing the test, you may be invited to an assessment day at our office in Leiden, where you will speak to our head of customer success, our lead monitoring & data qualification analyst, one of our asset reliability specialists, and our CTO.
This is a junior position and a great career start for someone who recently earned a master's degree or completed a highly relevant applied sciences (HBO) program. A keen and demonstrable interest in the topics listed above is a strong predictor of success in this role. You will receive additional training on the job.
